Story

Our story began when the original founders of Suquet Interiors, Ramon and Georgina Masana, immigrated to Vancouver in 1985 from Mexico City. As Mexican architects, their vision was to fuse Mexican architectural culture into Vancouver’s pacific coast setting. When Mexico City was hit with the devastating 1985 Earthquake, Ramon returned to the city of his childhood to save the remains of a partially damaged neoclassical heritage building from the crusher. It was no small feat! The entire cantera stone façade was shipped to Vancouver in 30 heavy containers. On arrival these unique pieces transformed numerous façades, such as Boboli on South Granville, the stunning interiors of bustling restaurants and the interior and exterior spaces of elegant Shaughnessy homes. Today we have over 100 moulds of these original cantera stone pieces. It is these moulds that we use to produce our works in cultured cast stone.

Sadly, Ramon Masana was taken from us far too early in 2009. Today, Ramon Masana Jr is keeping his legacy alive with Masana Stone and will continue to preserve the unique brand of cultured stonework that his father so boldly introduced to Canada.
